The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will today present the ceremonial beaded crown to High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, at the Olubadan Palace.
This significant event marks a major step in fulfilling the extant laws of the state as it affects the Olubadan Declaration and ascendancy.
Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, has accepted the crown, and his residence has been flooded with visitors congratulating him. Notable dignitaries, including Governor Seyi Makinde, the Asiwaju of Ibadanland, Chief Bode Amao, and the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Daud Akinola, have paid him visits.
A palace source revealed that the letter conveying the Olubadan’s consent was signed and delivered to Ladoja over the weekend. Today’s ceremony will be the inaugural meeting of the Olubadan-in-Council, the highest decision-making body of the Ibadan chieftaincy system, since the new Olubadan assumed office on July 12.
The presentation of the beaded crown is expected to be attended by high-profile guests, including the acting Governor, Bayo Lawal, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo. The Oluwo Afobaje of Ibadanland will bless the crown before it is presented to Ladoja.
