President Bola Tinubu has appointed new heads of governing councils for selected federal universities and tertiary institutions of learning.
The appointments aim to strengthen the institutions’ leadership and promote academic excellence.
Among the appointees are Temi Harriman, Chairman of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State, and Rabe Mudi Bala, Chairman of the Nigerian University of Science and Technology, Abuja.
Other notable appointments include Bram Baifa as Chairman of the Federal University of Agriculture, Bassam-Biri, Bayelsa, and Ahmadu Barau Banye Salisu as Chairman of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Kwale, Delta State.
The President also appointed heads of governing councils for the Admiralty University, Ibusa, Delta State, the Nigeria French Language Village, Badagry, Lagos State, and the National Institute of Nigerian Languages, Aba, Abia State, among others.
In a statement, President Tinubu’s Media Aide, Ajuri Ngelale, said the President expects the new members of the governing boards to perform their functions effectively and creditably within their statutory responsibilities.

– Nigerian University of Science and Technology, Abuja: Rabe Mudi Bala (Chairman), Akinola Fagbemi, Rakiatou Bagnou, Alwel Egwurugu, and Femi Osabinu (members)
– Federal University of Agriculture, Bassam-Biri, Bayelsa: Bram Baifa (Chairman), Richard Odigbo, Yomi Johnson, Fatima Owuna, and Christy Akpehuan-Omoruyi (members)
The appointments take effect immediately, with the new governing council members expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
