Renowned activist lawyer, Femi Falana, has sounded a warning to protesters brandishing the Russian flag and calling for the ousting of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that such actions constitute treason.
Falana, addressing newsmen on Monday, emphasized that while protesters have the right to peaceful assembly within the law, waving the Russian flag and advocating for a military coup are gross abuses of that right.
He cautioned protesters to distance themselves from undemocratic forces exploiting the peaceful protests for violent or unconstitutional purposes, stressing that legitimate protests against hardship should not be hijacked for campaigns against the government.
Falana sternly advised those involved in the illegal campaign for military rule to cease immediately, lest they face accusations of treasonable felony, as outlined in Section 41 of the Criminal Code Act.
