President Bola Tinubu has made a passionate appeal for an immediate end to the nationwide protests that have gripped the nation since Thursday.
In a nationwide broadcast on Sunday morning, Tinubu emphasized his administration’s readiness to listen to and address the concerns of protesters.
“I hereby enjoin protesters and the organisers to suspend any further protest and create room for dialogue, which I have always acceded to at the slightest opportunity,” he urged.
Tinubu acknowledged that the country is facing challenges, but emphasized the need for unity and collective action to reshape its destiny. “We require all hands on deck and need all citizens, regardless of age, party, tribe, religion or other divides, to work together,” he said.
The 10-day planned protest, which began on Thursday, has been marred by violence, destruction of property, and loss of lives, with at least 17 persons reported dead. Tinubu’s call for dialogue offers a glimmer of hope for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
