The Zamfara state chapters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have traded accusations over alleged attempts by hoodlums to burn the residence of Minister of Defence, Bello Mattawalle, during the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
APC Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Yusuf Idris, claimed PDP supporters tried to attack APC leaders’ properties, including Mattawalle’s residence, but were thwarted by security personnel.
Idris stated, “The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress is disturbed by the dimension the nationwide supposed peaceful protest took in the state… We observed that many PDP thugs were strategically deployed to attack, maim, and destroy personalities and properties of the APC.”
However, acting PDP chairman, Muktar Lugga, dismissed the allegations as baseless, saying, “As a peace-loving and responsible government, the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal would never plan to attack anybody or cause confusion in the state.”
Lugga advised the APC to stop politicking and support President Bola Tinubu in addressing the issues, adding that the APC was crying foul due to their failure in Zamfara state.
