Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on US Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her a “radical left lunatic” who will “destroy our country” if elected president.
Trump claimed Harris supports the “execution of babies” due to her stance on abortion, saying she wants abortions to be allowed “right up until birth and even after birth”.
Trump criticized Harris’s record on immigration, saying it has allowed communities to be “ravaged by migrant crime”, and dubbed her “unfit to lead”.
Harris has received President Joe Biden’s endorsement after his decision not to seek reelection, and has hit the campaign trail with a pledge to put abortion rights at the center of her campaign.
Trump’s attack on Harris comes as he is forced to pivot from targeting Biden’s age to facing a new opponent, with Harris stirring enthusiasm among Democrats.
Trump alleged that Democratic Party leaders ousted Biden in an “undemocratic” way and accused Harris of covering up Biden’s “mental unfitness”.
Harris has adopted a personal and targeted approach, focusing on Trump’s record as a felon and saying she knows his “type” from her work as a California prosecutor.
