In a breakthrough operation, the Department of State Services (DSS) has busted a kidnapping gang, killing one and apprehending another, in connection with the abduction of Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, mother of renowned Hausa singer, Dauda Rarara.
Hajiya Adamu was kidnapped from her residence in Kahutu village, Danja Local Government Area of Kano State on June 28, 2024, and held captive for 20 days. However, she regained freedom after a covert operation by the DSS.
According to a highly placed source in the secret service, the Kano command’s tactical team, acting on reliable intelligence, busted the gang of five bandits in Makarfi bush, where they were sharing the ransom. The source revealed that N26.5 million was recovered in the operation.
The source said, “One Hamisu Tukur, is currently in custody with gunshot injuries, while Bature was killed.” The successful operation is a testament to the DSS’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and criminal activities in the country. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.
