The Labour Party (LP) has taken disciplinary action against Hilda Dokubo, suspending the Nollywood actress and politician over alleged financial misconduct.
The suspension was effected at her ward in Asari Toru Local Government Area, Rivers State.
According to a letter signed by ward executives, Dokubo’s suspension followed an emergency meeting on July 15, which investigated allegations of financial misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of party regulations. The executives claimed substantial evidence supported their claims.
Dokubo, who serves as the Labour Party’s acting chairperson in Rivers State, had declared her interest in contesting the Asalga/Akulga federal constituency in the House of Representatives in 2022. Her suspension has sparked attention, given her prominence in the party and the entertainment industry.
The ward executives’ letter conveyed the suspension to the LP chairman in Asari Toru, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations. Dokubo’s suspension has raised questions about her future in the party and her political aspirations.
