Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) has suspended final-year students’ ‘sign out’ and ‘log out’ celebrations indefinitely following the tragic death of Hammed Ayinla Fabiyi, a 400-level student allegedly killed by suspected cultists during his final exams.
The university management announced the suspension in a statement signed by Bankole Mofolorunso Adegoke, ACEO (Information), to ensure safety and maintain a secure environment during the examinations.
Fabiyi was reportedly dragged out of the examination hall and shot by the assailants, and later died after being taken to two hospitals for medical assistance.
The management has directed the Students’ Affairs Division and Security Division to recommend appropriate penalties for offenders, warning that violators of this and existing policies will be sanctioned.
The statement reads, “The Management reiterates that the existing ban on students driving personal vehicles to campus remains in effect. Violators will face stringent sanctions.”
The university has also enforced the mandatory use of student identification cards within the premises to prevent unauthorized individuals from posing as students.
The management urged all students to comply with these directives to ensure a peaceful and conducive learning environment.
