In a bid to alleviate the economic hardship faced by Nigerians, the Federal Government has dispatched 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja on Monday.
According to Idris, each truck contains 1,200 bags of 25kg rice, totaling 24,000 bags per state, aimed at providing relief to the most vulnerable persons and families.
This distribution is the first step by the federal government to support all sub-nationals, with state governments expected to distribute the commodity to bring down the current hardship in the country.
The move is part of the government’s efforts to ease the economic burden on Nigerians, with more initiatives expected to follow.
Idris said, “Each state has received truckloads of rice, each containing 1,200 bags of 25kg rice for onward distribution to the most vulnerable persons and families.”
The minister added that the federal government is committed to providing support to all sub-nationals to alleviate the economic hardship faced by citizens.
