Manchester United have completed the signing of Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for a fee of £36.5m (€42.5m).
The 23-year-old forward has signed a five-year contract with the option of a further year and becomes Erik ten Hag’s first major signing of the summer.
Zirkzee expressed his excitement about joining the iconic club, saying, “I know how exciting the future is going to be here, and I cannot wait to play my part in achieving success for Manchester United.”
He added, “I’m ready to take my career to another level, win more trophies, and make an impact straight away.”
Dan Ashworth, Manchester United’s new sporting director, praised Zirkzee as an “outstanding talent” who will enhance the team’s attacking options.
Ashworth said, “We are delighted to sign a player of Joshua’s calibre this early in the transfer window. We will provide him with the perfect platform to reach the next level under Erik ten Hag’s guidance.”
