Euro 2024 breakout star Nico Williams is being courted by Chelsea teammate Marc Cucurella, who revealed he’s making daily pitches to the young winger to join the Blues.
Speaking to The Athletic, Cucurella joked about his persistent efforts, saying: “I tell him every day he should come to Chelsea, he would help us a lot! He is more than welcome and he knows that [laughs].”
Williams, 21, has impressed at Euro 2024, sparking interest from Chelsea and Barcelona, with a release clause of €58 million.
Cucurella emphasized the importance of comfort and value, saying: “These sorts of players need to feel comfortable and important… I’ll be covering his back or doing anything he needs me to.”
Chelsea is undergoing changes, appointing Enzo Maresca after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino, and recruiting five new players, including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The Blues face Wrexham in their first pre-season friendly on July 24, amid expectations of more signings and departures.
