Experienced defender Jonny Evans has committed to Manchester United for another year, signing a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club beyond his 37th birthday.
Evans, who returned to Old Trafford last summer, made 30 appearances for the Red Devils in the previous season. The Northern Irishman expressed his delight at extending his stay, stating on the club’s website: “I am delighted to have extended my contract at Manchester United for another season. To play for this great club and feel the support from our incredible fans is always a privilege.”
Evans, who first joined the club as an academy graduate, left for West Brom in 2015 before returning last year. He praised the team and manager, saying: “Returning to the club last season was an honour; representing the team on the pitch alongside fantastic team-mates under an excellent manager.” He also celebrated their FA Cup win, adding: “Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience; I know we can challenge for more trophies in the season ahead.”
