The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman (South-South), Dan Orbih, for allegedly undermining the party’s efforts in Edo State.
This decision comes amidst internal conflicts within the Edo State Chapter, which have been ongoing since the governorship primary election on February 22, 2024.
The PDP NWC condemned Orbih’s actions and comments regarding the Edo State Governorship Primary Election, deeming them inconsistent with the party’s constitution. A six-member committee, led by Deputy National Chairman (South) Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, has been established to investigate Orbih.
The suspension takes effect immediately, and Orbih will not participate in NWC meetings, activities, or programs pending the investigation’s outcome. The PDP urged its leaders and members in Edo State to remain united and focused on achieving victory for its candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in the September 21, 2024, governorship election.
The party acknowledged the support of the Edo State people, who are rallying behind its candidate and the PDP’s vision for the state’s continued development. The NWC charged all leaders and members to work together to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming election.
