Spain reached the final of Euro 2024 after a thrilling 2-1 victory over France on Tuesday.
France’s Kolo Muani scored the opening goal, but Spain responded with two quick goals before halftime. Lamine Yamal became the youngest scorer in European Championship history, equalising with a stunning strike. Dani Olmo scored the winner moments later, his shot deflecting off Jules Kounde.
“I got the ball, didn’t think about it for too long and just shot,” Yamal said of his brilliant strike. “I’m just enjoying myself and I’m proud to be in the final.” Spain faces either England or the Netherlands in Sunday’s final.
This marks Spain’s first major tournament final in 12 years. They will aim to win a record-breaking fourth European Championship title. Coach Didier Deschamps praised Spain, saying, “They’re a very good team… they controlled the game better than us.” France’s attack struggled despite their talented players. Kylian Mbappé was ineffective, continuing his Euro 2024 scoring drought.
