In response to mounting speculation and media reports, President Joe Biden’s personal physician, Kevin O’Connor, has clarified that the president has not consulted a neurologist outside of his annual physical examinations.
This statement comes after reports emerged of a Parkinson’s specialist, Dr. Cannard, visiting the White House multiple times.
According to O’Connor, Dr. Cannard has been conducting neurological examinations on President Biden as part of his annual physicals, and the results have consistently shown no indications of strokes or Parkinson’s disease. The most recent examination in February revealed no tremors or signs of cognitive decline.
The White House has faced intense questioning from the media, with Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refusing to comment on the frequency of Dr. Cannard’s visits. However, O’Connor’s letter aims to dispel rumors and reassure the public of the president’s health.
This development comes amid concerns about President Biden’s mental fitness and age, which have sparked debates about his suitability for the upcoming presidential election. Despite the scrutiny, Biden has maintained that he is fit to serve and has declined to take a cognitive health test.
