Sunday Oliseh, a former Super Eagles midfielder, has attributed the disconnect between his generation and the current crop of Nigeria internationals to a lack of respect.
In an interview with Matthew Edafe on Elegbete TV, Oliseh stated that the current generation of players lacks respect for their predecessors, unlike his generation, who revered those who came before them.
Oliseh cited an example of how he maintained respect for Segun Odegbami, a member of the 1980 AFCON-winning team, even after a disagreement. “We don’t call him Segun or Odegbami; we call him Big Sheg. That’s a sign of respect,” Oliseh explained. He also berated the credentials of the more recent Super Eagles generations, emphasizing their lack of success.
The legend’s comments come on the heels of Victor Osimhen’s social media rant, which has sparked a wider conversation about the relationship between Nigeria’s football generations. Oliseh’s words have added fuel to the fire, highlighting the need for respect and unity among the country’s footballers.
