With less than 48 hours to go, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are crisscrossing key swing states in a desperate bid to secure a decisive edge in the hotly contested presidential election.
Over 76 million people have already cast their ballots, setting the stage for a nail-biting climax on Tuesday.
The focus is on seven crucial states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, and North Carolina, where the margins are razor-thin. Trump is concentrating on Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, while Harris is targeting the Great Lakes states, particularly Michigan.
At a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump reiterated his unfounded claims of election rigging, saying, “The fate of our nation is in your hands. On Tuesday, you have to stand up.” He also seized on isolated irregularities to amplify his claims of widespread “cheating,” stating, “They are fighting so hard to steal this damn thing.”
Harris spent the day in Michigan, rallying support in Detroit, Pontiac, and Michigan State University. Her campaign has booked a two-minute spot during Sunday’s NFL games, pledging to be “a president for all Americans” and promising to “build a brighter future for our nation.”
The latest New York Times/Siena poll shows incremental changes in key battleground states, but the results remain within the margin of error. Harris got a boost in Iowa, where the final Des Moines Register poll showed her ahead in a state won easily by Trump in 2016 and 2020.
The Electoral College system awards states influence according to their population, making Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia crucial prizes. With the election hanging in the balance, both candidates are pulling out all the stops to win over undecided voters.
