Social media personality Bobrisky was dramatically removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight and detained by immigration officers late Thursday night.
The popular cross-dresser took to Instagram to alert followers about the arrest, claiming he sustained injuries during an altercation with immigration officers and alleging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is behind his detention.
This isn’t Bobrisky’s first brush with controversy. In April 2024, he was sentenced to six months in prison for naira abuse ¹. Although he was initially incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, reports suggest he spent only three weeks there before being moved to a private location, sparking speculation about bribery and special treatment.
The situation escalated in late September 2024 when social media influencer VeryDarkMan posted an audio recording allegedly involving Bobrisky. The leaked recording claimed that music artist Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, sought ₦10 million to secure a presidential pardon. Bobrisky denied making these claims, shifting blame to VeryDarkMan.
In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, 2024, demanding a retraction and public apology for what they described as defamatory statements. VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, clarified that his client didn’t intend to defame Femi Falana but rather sought to initiate an investigation into the allegations.
As of now, Bobrisky remains detained, and the EFCC’s involvement is still unclear. The ongoing drama surrounding Bobrisky’s detention and alleged connections to bribery and defamation continues to unfold.
