The United States presidential election is entering its final stretch, with Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump intensifying their campaigns in critical swing states.
Harris was scheduled to appear at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Stonecrest, Georgia, and later attend a “Souls to the Polls” voter mobilization event ¹. Meanwhile, Trump held a campaign town hall in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Both candidates brought in star power to energize their campaigns. Harris was joined by pop stars Lizzo and Usher at rallies in Detroit and Atlanta, respectively. She seized the opportunity to portray Trump as exhausted and unhinged ¹. In response, Trump delivered a marathon speech in Pennsylvania, with billionaire Elon Musk campaigning for him elsewhere in the state.
Harris emphasized her commitment to investing in the working and middle classes, saying, “We stand for the idea that the true measure of the strength of a leader is not based on who you beat down, it’s on who you lift up” ¹. She also accused Trump of “ducking debates and cancelling interviews because of exhaustion.” Trump countered by showcasing his endurance and appealing to working-class voters, highlighting the importance of Pennsylvania’s electoral college delegates.
Former President Barack Obama weighed in on the race, comparing Trump to a grandfather whose bizarre behavior would spark concern. “So you would be worried if your grandpa started acting like this… But this is coming from somebody who wants unchecked power, wants the most powerful office on Earth, with the nuclear codes and all that”.
With fewer than three weeks to Election Day, both candidates are fighting to secure voters’ support in a race that polls suggest is effectively tied. The outcome will be decided on November 5.
