The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, has dismissed rumors that Governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo is seeking a second term.
In an interview with journalists, Mefor stated that Soludo has not declared his intention to run for re-election, as he is currently focused on implementing policies to develop the state.
Mefor expressed his admiration for Soludo’s performance, suggesting that he would persuade the governor to contest due to his impressive track record. “Soludo has not declared intention to contest for a second term. He is too busy putting policies in the state to develop the state. I’m one of those that will persuade him to run, and if he runs, I will ensure that he wins,” Mefor said.
According to Mefor, Soludo’s achievements in Anambra State make him an ideal candidate for re-election. “Soludo has verifiable, tangible achievements in Anambra, and all he needs to do is show Anambra people his scorecard to get reelected for a second term,” he noted.
The commissioner also highlighted the zoning formula in Anambra, which favors Soludo’s re-election bid. “All the indices favour Soludo. He is from Anambra South, and the zoning formula favours him. The zoning formula we have in Anambra is such that one is entitled to a second term,” Mefor explained.
It’s worth noting that Soludo’s performance has received praise from various quarters, including the Nigeria Local Government Employees (NULGE), which has endorsed his potential re-election bid. The governor’s “Soludo Solution” agenda has also been commended for its impact on rural infrastructure development and youth empowerment.
