The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has announced its primary election schedule for the upcoming November 2 local government elections.
According to APC State Chairman Aliyu Bello, the primaries for councillorship positions will commence on October 14, 2024, while chairmanship candidates will be selected on October 16.
*Primary Election Schedule:*–
_Expression of Interest Forms_: Sales will take place from October 7 to October 10
– _Screening of Candidates_: Scheduled from October 10 to 12
– _Councillorship Primaries_: October 14
– _Chairmanship Primaries_: October 16
Bello revealed the election timetable during a stakeholders’ meeting in Lafia, emphasizing that the party will participate in the elections with “zeal, spirit, and unwavering commitment to emerge victorious.” However, the party has yet to decide on the primary election method, considering options such as consensus, direct, or indirect.
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, who was re-elected in 2023 and is serving his second term, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the APC retains the governorship in 2027. Sule appreciated former governors Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Umaru Al-Makura for their continued support and presence at party meetings.
The APC’s strategic planning and preparations are expected to bolster the party’s chances in the November polls. With the primary elections fast approaching, stakeholders are urged to approach the forthcoming elections with seriousness to secure victory for the party.
