President Bola Tinubu has shifted focus away from the 2027 general elections, prioritizing economic restructuring for Nigeria’s benefit.
At the 2024 South West Assembly of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Tinubu, represented by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, urged Nigerians to be patient with his administration’s efforts toward genuine progress.
The assembly, hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, brought together prominent APC leaders, including former National Chairman Bisi Akande and former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba. Keynote speaker Kayode Fayemi praised Tinubu as a “listening leader” determined to succeed.
Isaac Kekemeke, APC National Vice Chairman, Southwest, emphasized the need to reflect on the party’s performance and strategize for the future. The assembly aimed to assess APC’s achievements, evaluate its standing, and chart a path forward for continued success.
Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the South West’s vast natural and human resources, exceptional creativity, intellectual strength, and rich cultural heritage. “The Southwest is uniquely positioned to propel our nation forward and secure Nigeria’s place in the global community,” he added.
Tinubu assured that his administration’s tough decisions would yield positive results, saying, “He knows he has taken very tough decisions. He sees the light at the end of the tunnel. The time will come when we will all thank him for the decision”. With his focus on governance rather than re-election, Tinubu’s commitment to Nigeria’s progress remains unwavering.
