On Sunday night, fifty trafficked girls and 19 stranded Nigerians came from Lebanon.

Their evacuation took place at the expense of the authorities in Lebanon.

Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama announced these via his verified Twitter account.

He tweeted: “With the financial and logistical help of the Government and the Lebanese community in Nigeria, 50 trafficked Nigerian girls and 19 stranded Nigerians were successfully rescued from Lebanon and have arrived in Nigeria today.”

They have been gathered to be moved to Abuja where they will observe the compulsory 14-day isolation in line with the protocol to contain COVID-19 spread.

In the last two weeks, the Federal Government has evacuated close to 1,000 from U.K, U.S, Arabia and United Arab Emirate.
