The Labour Party (LP) has vehemently denied reports circulating on social media that the party leadership is partnering with President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
This comes after a video surfaced featuring activist Deji Adeyanju claiming that the LP had entered into a partnership with Tinubu for the next presidential poll.
According to the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Mr. Obiora Ifoh, the party has consistently debunked allegations of an understanding with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to collaborate ahead of the 2027 general election.
Ifoh emphasized that the Labour Party is the most visible opposition party, with National Chairman Barrister Abure being the leading voice in the opposition camp. Abure has been critical of the present government, continuously critiquing policies and proffering solutions.
The party has also been working on various programmes, including the creation of the Electoral Reform Committee, aimed at enthroning credible, fair, and transparent processes for leadership selection.
Furthermore, the Labour Party has established a Political Education Committee to reorient citizens on the need for positive attitudinal and behavioral changes towards their understanding of politics in Nigeria. The party has also introduced e-membership registration, with thousands of people already subscribing.
Ifoh described the reports of a partnership with Tinubu as “most ridiculous and unfortunate.” He challenged Deji Adeyanju and others to provide facts and proofs that the party leadership or Mr. Abure intends to work with President Bola Tinubu or the APC in the 2027 elections.
