In a show of solidarity, Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa has reaffirmed his commitment to working harmoniously with Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Idahosa emphasized that their administration’s ultimate goal is to prioritize the welfare of the Edo people.
Idahosa, speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, stressed that Governor Okpebholo is not just his boss, but also his elder brother. “Nobody should expect any misunderstanding between me and my principal because I’m here not to serve the personal interests of the good people of Edo North. So, if there is going to be a personal interest that will supersede the interest of the Edo people, I don’t think I’m worthy to be in this seat.”
Reflecting on the controversy surrounding the deputy governor’s office in the previous administration, Idahosa highlighted the importance of leadership and collaboration. “I’ve had several conversations with my predecessor. I understand that leadership is the key when you have a good governor who sees his deputy as his younger brother, so both of them can work together for the interest of the state.”
Idahosa reiterated his support for Governor Okpebholo’s vision, emphasizing their shared goal of human capital development. “We are here for a purpose, just to develop the state and the people… For me, the office of the deputy governor is to complement the plans and visions of the governor. To support and ensure that most of our campaign promises are fulfilled.”
This commitment to unity and development comes as Governor Okpebholo recently swore in Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole as the new Commissioner for Health, tasking him with taking the sector to the next level. With this strong foundation, the Okpebholo administration is poised to drive positive change in Edo State.
