The National Judicial Council (NJC) has taken disciplinary action against five judicial officers for misconduct.
At its 107th meeting, chaired by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the council recommended compulsory retirement for two heads of court and suspended three others without pay.
Compulsory Retirement

Justice T.E. Chukwuemeka Chikeka: Chief Judge of Imo State, found to have falsified his age with two different dates of birth: October 27, 1956, and October 27, 1958.

Kadi Babagana Mahdi: Grand Kadi of Yobe State, discovered to have three different dates of birth in 1959, while his actual birth year is 1952.
Suspended Judicial Officers

Justice G.C. Aguma: Suspended for one year without pay and placed on a “Watch-List” for two years for aiding a litigant and failing to raise queries on garnishee proceedings.

Justice A.O. Nwabunike: Suspended for one year without pay and placed on “Watch-List” for two years for breaching judicial conduct rules and abusing judicial powers.
The council considered 30 petitions, dismissing 22 for lack of merit and empanelling six committees for further investigation. An additional committee will investigate complaints against Justice O.A. Ojo, Chief Judge of Osun State.
