In his first 24 hours in office, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo made sweeping changes, dissolving executives of all boards, agencies, and parastatals in the state public service.
Permanent secretaries appointed outside the civil service and political appointees were relieved of their duties.
Okpebholo ordered contractors back to work, tasking them with fixing failed portions within Benin metropolis. Key areas include:
– 7.5km Temboga Road
– Lucky Way Junction by Aduwawa
– Ramat Park/Slope Axis
– Eyaen Road and Obadan Junction
The governor suspended revenue collection in motor parks and elsewhere until further notice. Defiance will result in arrest, as instructed to the Commissioner of Police.
During an inspection tour, Okpebholo assured residents of his commitment to restoring hope, aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. “We promised our people we’d fix and construct roads… Edoh people should expect good things to happen.”
