The National Coordinator of the ‘Obidient Movement’, Yunusa Tanko, has reiterated his faith in Peter Obi’s potential to become Nigeria’s president in 2027.
Tanko attributed Obi’s 2023 loss to electoral malpractice and emphasized the movement’s commitment to promoting good governance and accountability.
At a symposium themed “Repositioning the Obidient Movement for Greater Impact” in Onitsha, Anambra State, Tanko stated, “We are dedicated to promoting good governance and accountability by bringing together key stakeholders to discuss Nigeria’s future.” He added, “Obi has the potential to emerge as president in 2027 if we put our acts together.”
Tanko also called for electoral reform, stressing the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s chairman to be appointed without presidential influence. “A new Nigeria is possible if we start doing the right things in electing those who lead us,” he said.
Prof. Stella Okunna, event chair, highlighted the importance of good governance, while Valentine Ozigbo, Labour Party’s 2025 governorship aspirant for Anambra, urged unity among members to achieve a better Nigeria. Economist Prof. Pat Utomi advocated for collective action towards a brighter future.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the Obidient Movement seeks to empower Nigerian youths, advocating for meaningful change and accountability. As the movement gains momentum, Nigerians eagerly await the outcome of their efforts.
