In a surprise move, United States President-elect Donald Trump has announced that two key figures from his former administration, Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo, will not be returning to the White House.
Haley, the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and Pompeo, ex-Secretary of State and CIA Director, were considered strong contenders for Trump’s new cabinet.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, stating, “I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation.” Despite the harsh tone, Trump expressed gratitude for their past service, saying, “I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country.” He ended with his signature phrase, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Insiders suggest that Haley’s decision to run against Trump in the Republican primary may have contributed to the snub. Although she has been publicly supportive of Trump in the past, she has also criticized him on several occasions. Pompeo, while not a vocal Trump supporter, has expressed support for the president-elect in the past.
The exclusion of Haley and Pompeo from Trump’s new cabinet has sparked interest in who will fill the key positions. As the president-elect continues to assemble his team, all eyes are on the potential candidates. With Trump’s history of unexpected decisions, one thing is certain – this is just the beginning of a fascinating journey.
