A shocking incident of police brutality has emerged in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the FCT, Abuja, where a 21-year-old man was allegedly shot by unidentified policemen for refusing to pay a N200,000 bribe.
Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, shared a disturbing video on his Facebook page, showing the young victim lying in the hospital. Otse narrated the incident, saying, “21 years old boy shot by the police yesterday in Kubwa, Abuja because they requested 200k and he didn’t have to give them.”
VeryDarkMan expressed frustration and concern, asking, “Are we going to be running away from thieves, armed robbers and kidnappers, and still be running away from Nigeria Police that are supposed to be protecting us? This thing is getting crazier by the day.”
Otse urged the Force Police Public Relations Officer and FCT Police PRO to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. “Just look at this young boy on my screen that was allegedly shot yesterday. This boy said they met him and next thing, they were asking him to bring N200,000,” he said.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of police corruption and brutality in Nigeria. The public demands justice and accountability for the victim and his family.
The FCT Police Command has yet to comment on the incident.
