Manchester United have officially appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, replacing Erik ten Hag who was sacked earlier this week.
Amorim, 39, will remain with Sporting Lisbon until November 11, before joining United and taking charge of his first game against Ipswich Town on November 24.
As part of the deal, United paid Sporting an additional €1 million (£840,000) on top of Amorim’s €10 million (£8.4 million) exit clause to secure his early release from his 30-day notice period ¹. Amorim has signed a contract with United until June 2027, with the option of extending for another year.
Before Amorim’s arrival, Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to manage the team on an interim basis, starting with their league fixture against Chelsea on Sunday.
