The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the nomination of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the substantive Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Other confirmed ministers include:
– *Minister of Industry, Trade and Development*: Dr. Jumoke Oduwole
– *Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction*: Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda
– *Minister of Labour and Employment*: Muhammadu Dingyadi
– *Minister of Livestock Development*: Idi Muktar Maiha
– *Minister of State, Housing*: Yusuf Ata
– *Minister of State, Education*: Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad
The confirmation came after a five-hour screening by the Senate. The process was facilitated by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele’s motion to suspend the rules and allow Special Adviser to the President on Senate matters, Basheer Lado, to present the nominees.
President Bola Tinubu’s letter nominating the ministers was read by Senate President GodsWill Akpabio last Thursday, setting the stage for the confirmation process.
This development follows previous reports of Bianca Ojukwu’s experience as Spain’s ambassador, where she spent a year in a hotel. Her appointment, along with six others, was announced earlier by President Tinubu.
