A disturbing video has surfaced showing Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives, physically and verbally assaulting a Bolt driver who delivered a package to his Abuja residence.
The driver, whose name remains unknown, captured the altercation on camera, revealing the lawmaker’s explosive temper.
The conflict began when the driver asked Ikwechegh to retrieve a package containing snails from the car. Ikwechegh took offense, insisting the request was disrespectful given his social status. He repeatedly slapped and insulted the driver, boasting of his power and influence.
Ikwechegh threatened to make the driver “disappear” without consequences, saying, “Do you know who I am? I can make this man disappear in the whole of Nigeria and nothing will happen.” He also refused to pay the delivery fee, slapping the driver multiple times and querying if he knew who he was talking to.
The video has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for Ikwechegh’s accountability. This incident isn’t his first controversy; he was previously involved in a certificate forgery scandal that led to Emeka Nnamani’s removal from office. Ikwechegh has denied allegations, claiming they’re “lies from the pit of hell”.
Nigerians demand consequences for Ikwechegh’s actions, citing concerns about the culture of impunity among those in power. The incident highlights the need for accountability and respect for ordinary citizens.
