Former President Goodluck Jonathan shared his experience of losing the 2015 presidential election, describing it as a challenging moment in his political career.
He credited Raymond Dokpesi, chairman of Daar Communications, for playing a fatherly role during that time.
At the first Raymond Dokpesi Annual Diamond Lecture in Abuja, Jonathan recalled Dokpesi’s words of encouragement before handing over to President Muhammadu Buhari. “It’s not easy to lose an election as president… But Dokpesi invited me and said things that gave me hope,” Jonathan said.
Jonathan highlighted Dokpesi’s impact on his transition and spiritual life, also referencing his book, “My Transition Hours.”
Meanwhile, Information Minister Idris Mohammed emphasized responsible freedom of speech, urging Nigerians to avoid reckless negativity that could become self-fulfilling.
