Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has confidently declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will face a shocking defeat in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
Makinde, who serves as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest, emphasized that APC has become a hindrance to Nigeria’s progress.
The APC’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, had previously boasted that the party would capture the Southwest states after winning the Ondo election. However, Makinde remains unfazed, asserting that the PDP will emerge victorious. “If wishes were horses, everybody would be riding them,” Makinde said. “I can tell you that the people of the South West of Nigeria are wiser, especially in Ondo State… You can see the crowd; look at the enthusiasm. On November 16th, they will tell him (Ganduje) that Ondo State and indeed Southwest are for the PDP.”
Makinde’s statement comes after Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa claimed that the PDP was “dead” in Ondo State. In response, Makinde led the PDP campaign train to the Akoko axis, demonstrating the party’s vibrancy and determination to win the governorship election. The outcome of the election will undoubtedly have significant implications for the region’s political landscape.
