The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the Kogi State local government elections, winning all 21 chairmanship seats and 239 councillorship positions.
This was announced by the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) Chairman, Mr. Mamman Nda-Eri, in Lokoja.
– The election was described as peaceful, free, fair, and credible by Mr. Nda-Eri.
– A woman secured the chairmanship position in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area.
– The APC won all chairmanship and councillorship positions, leaving nothing to the other 18 participating political parties.
“The APC performed excellently, winning all chairmanship and councillorship positions, leaving nothing to the other 18 political parties that participated in the election,” said Mr. Nda-Eri. He also confirmed the results, stating, “The results at the headquarters were earlier declared at the various collation centres by the respective Returning Officers. As Chairman of KOSIEC, I hereby confirm the results previously collated and returned by the Returning Officers.”
Mr. Nda-Eri expressed gratitude to electoral officials, security agencies, observers, and journalists for their contributions to the election’s success.
This win for the APC in Kogi State mirrors similar victories in other states, such as Kaduna, where the party also swept the local government polls.
