Burkina Faso has booked their ticket to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after defeating Burundi 2-0 in a qualifying match on Sunday.
The victory, courtesy of goals from Bertrand Traore and Mohamed Konate, sealed the Stallions’ spot in Morocco next year.
This will be Burkina Faso’s 14th AFCON appearance, with their best finish being runners-up to Nigeria in 2013. The team’s impressive qualifying campaign has seen them accumulate 10 points, with wins over Malawi and two victories against Burundi, as well as a draw with Senegal.
Senegal, with seven points, can join Burkina Faso in Morocco if they secure a win against Malawi on Tuesday. Burundi and Malawi, with three and zero points respectively, are struggling to keep their qualifying hopes alive.
Host nation Morocco, participating in the qualifiers for match practice, will automatically feature in the 2025 AFCON.
