Prominent activist and politician, Aisha Yesufu, has set the record straight on her affiliation with the Labour Party (LP) and her financial independence.
In a recent interview on Seun Okinbaloye’s podcast, Mic On, Yesufu categorically stated that she is not a card-carrying member of the LP or any other political party.
“I am not a member of the Labour Party. I have never been a card carrying member of any party,” she emphasized, putting to rest speculation about her party ties.
But that’s not all – Yesufu also addressed rumors about seeking appointments or financial favors. “For me, I worked on my financial independence before I started speaking on the Nigerian issues,” she said, highlighting her entrepreneurial spirit. “I dare anybody; living or dead to say that I, Aisha Yesufu, have ever been to your place to look for appointment, contract or whatever. I am a trader! I buy, I sell, I distribute, build and sell houses.”
This declaration comes on the heels of a public disagreement with Labour Party Chairman, Julius Abure, over the management of campaign funds. Yesufu had previously challenged Abure to account for donations made to the party’s “N1,000 Challenge” campaign.
By speaking out, Yesufu aims to reaffirm her commitment to transparency and independence in her activism and political endeavors. Her words serve as a testament to her unwavering dedication to promoting good governance and accountability in Nigeria.
