Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has downplayed rumors of internal divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing that the party remains united and will resolve its internal crisis amicably.
This declaration comes on the heels of a visit by the party’s embattled national chairman, Umar Damagum, who led PDP chairmen from the North East to the Government House in Bauchi.
The visit took place amid reports of Damagum’s purported suspension by a faction of the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) alongside National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu due to alleged disloyalty ¹. However, the Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) from removing Damagum as acting national chairman until the party’s national convention in December 2025.
Governor Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, stressed that the party will not recognize any factions. “We have met and discussed these situations extensively with the acting National Chairman, and we have agreed to work together along with other party organs to resolve all these issues,” he said.
Mohammed emphasized the importance of collaboration among key stakeholders, including the Governors’ Forum, Board of Trustees, and party caucuses. “We will deepen stakeholding and collaboration to resolve all issues that are disparaging the members of the party,” he noted.
The governor assured that the PDP is committed to resolving internal issues to ensure victory in the 2027 elections. “This has been a productive outing, and I am assured that the party will come together to resolve all contending issues,” Mohammed declared.
As the PDP prepares for the 2027 elections, Governor Mohammed’s leadership will be crucial in maintaining party unity and capitalizing on the party’s achievements in Bauchi State, where his infrastructure development projects have transformed the state’s landscape.
