A federal judge has set May 5, 2025, as the trial date for music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
Combs, known for his successful music career, will remain incarcerated after being denied bail twice due to concerns of witness tampering.
The allegations against Combs began last year when singer Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, accused him of subjecting her to over a decade of coercion using physical force and drugs, as well as a 2018 rape. Since then, multiple civil lawsuits have surfaced, portraying Combs as a violent individual who exploited his celebrity status to prey on women.
Lawyers have announced that over 100 people, including minors, plan to take legal action against Combs, citing violent sexual assault, rape, and sexual abuse. Attorney Tony Buzbee stated that 25 of the 120 allegations involve minors, with one accuser claiming they were only 9 years old when assaulted.
Combs has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to all charges. His lawyer, Erica Wolff, emphasized that Combs denies any claims of sexual abuse, including those involving minors.
Prosecutor Emily Johnson noted that more evidence is being explored, including 96 electronic devices seized in March, which may lead to additional charges. Combs’ trial is set to begin on May 5, 2025, with a conference scheduled for December and motions to be submitted by February.
