Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has accused music heavyweights Wizkid and Davido of using their public feud to stay relevant.
Portable claimed the duo’s music has lost market appeal, prompting them to resort to manufactured beef for promotional purposes.
In an Instagram post, Portable wrote: “Don’t use your brother to shine, shine yourself. Una songs no dey market again, na fight una dey use do promotion.”
He emphasized his neutrality in the ongoing social media war, stating: “Me, I no dey for Davido. Me, I no dey for Wizkid. I dey for myself. That’s why I dey for those who dey for me.”
Portable boasted about his own success, saying: “Let’s forget fake promotions, I get hit songs. Portable is bigger than them. Who is big is big…”
This development comes amid Wizkid’s relentless tirade against Davido, labeling him “wack” and “talentless” on Tuesday night. Despite Davido’s silence, Wizkid continued to drag him and his family on Wednesday.
Portable’s comments highlight the growing concern about manufactured controversies in Nigeria’s music industry.
Industry observers wonder if this tactic will ultimately harm the industry’s credibility or if it’s just another marketing strategy.
