Aloy Ejimakor, lead counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed concerns over the IPOB leader’s well-being, citing the Department of State Services (DSS) facility’s inadequacy in caring for sick detainees.
Ejimakor noted that Kanu’s poor health could be fatal if not properly managed, emphasizing that the DSS facility is not suitable for anyone, let alone Kanu.
“Kanu’s health and well-being are a constant factor, and his poor health, if not well handled, can be fatal,” Ejimakor said.
He criticized the DSS’s hostile attitude towards detainees, stating, “The DSS detention facility lacks facilities to care for sick detainees… its institutional attitude towards detainees is hostile enough to stoke ill-health, mentally and physically.”
Ejimakor’s concerns come as Kanu’s trial continues, with the IPOB leader currently detained at the Abuja DSS facility.
