Nigerian singer, Skales, has shed light on his collaborative efforts with Wizkid during their time at Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).
In an interview on ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ with Bae U Barbie, Skales disclosed that he co-wrote several hit songs for Wizkid, including ‘Wiz Party’ from his debut album ‘Super Star).
Skales emphasized the collaborative spirit within EME, stating, “Back in EME, we were a team so we used to write songs for each other. I wrote songs for Wizkid. He also wrote songs for me, too.” He specifically mentioned Wizkid’s contribution to his hit song ‘Mukulu.”
Skales and Wizkid were among the first artists signed to EME by Banky W in the early 2010s. The label played a pivotal role in launching their careers. However, both artists eventually parted ways with EME due to contractual disagreements.
In a previous interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Banky W revealed that Wizkid owed EME three albums based on his initial contract. This disclosure highlights the complexities surrounding artistic collaborations and contractual obligations.
Skales’ revelations underscore the significance of teamwork and mutual support in the music industry. As Nigerian artists continue to gain global recognition, the importance of acknowledging collaborative efforts and resolving contractual disputes cannot be overstated.
