Melania Trump, wife of former US President Donald Trump, has described her husband’s narrow escape from two assassination attempts as “miracles”.
Speaking after the second attempt on Donald Trump’s life, Melania expressed her gratitude to the Secret Service agents who protected him, saying, “The guys that were with him, they were fantastic. And I think both of the events, they were really miracles.”
Donald Trump, who is currently running for president against Vice President Kamala Harris, was first targeted by 20-year-old Thomas Crooks in July 2024. Crooks fired multiple shots at a political rally in Pennsylvania, resulting in the deaths of the gunman and a bystander, as well as critical injuries to two spectators.
Just two months later, another attempt was made on Trump’s life when 58-year-old Ryan Routh was arrested for allegedly trying to shoot the Republican at his West Palm Beach golf course.
Melania lamented the backlash her husband has faced, calling for an end to the opposition from Democrats and the media. “Is it really shocking that all this egregious violence goes against my husband? Especially that we hear the leaders from the opposition party and mainstream media branding him as a threat to democracy, calling him vile names?” she asked. “This needs to stop.”
Melania’s comments come as her husband continues his presidential campaign amidst rising tensions. With the country closely watching, Trump’s survival of these attempts has been hailed by some as a testament to his resilience.
