The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed a thorough investigation into bribery allegations within the Nigerian Correctional Service.
This follows a voice note shared by Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan), where Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky) claimed to have bribed officials to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment.
In the voice note, Bobrisky alleged that his godfather and the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service arranged for him to serve his sentence in a private apartment. He also claimed to have paid N15m to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges.
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), denied involvement with Bobrisky, stating, “We wish to state, without any fear of contradiction, that our client has never spoken to Bobrisky on his alleged pardon or on any matter whatsoever.”
Tunji-Ojo condemned the alleged behavior, emphasizing zero tolerance for indiscipline, unprofessionalism, or corruption. The Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, will head the investigative team.
Falana’s lawyers demanded a retraction and apology from VeryDarkMan, stating that the social media post portrayed Falana in a bad light and damaged his reputation.
