Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has pledged to ensure a level playing field for all participating parties in the upcoming local government elections, scheduled for October 5, 2024.
At least eight parties are expected to contest the polls.
Governor Alia, represented by Deputy Governor Sam Ode, made this promise during the All Progressive Congress (APC) election campaign flag-off in Gboko. He urged APC supporters to work tirelessly to secure all positions for the party.
As Governor Alia noted, “His Excellency, Hyacinth Alia is determined to ensure that the coming election is free and fair, hence, he has promised to provide a level playing ground for all the political parties”.
During the event, Deputy Governor Ode handed over party flags to 23 APC chairmanship candidates and their deputies, charging them to serve their people.
APC caretaker committee chairman, Benjamin Omale, highlighted the committee’s role in addressing aggrieved aspirants’ concerns, fostering unity, and delivering campaign promises. He commended President Bola Tinubu and the APC national leadership for their support.
Omale emphasized, “The state APC administration is committed to delivering their campaign promises. Come out en mass on October 5 and vote for all APC candidates for better service delivery and the general good of the people.”
The APC caretaker committee, inaugurated by the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, will serve for six months ¹. Its members include:
