A 23-year-old philosophy student, Ayomide Adeleye, has confessed to killing 18-year-old Christiana Idowu, an Industrial Training student at Yaba College of Technology.
Adeleye, now in police custody, admitted to the crime, stating, “I killed her because I had financial problems.” He lured Idowu to his residence under the pretence of repairing her phone.
Adeleye recounted the horrific moment of the murder, saying, “I just grabbed her, applied pressure… I then squeezed her throat, and she gave up.” He then buried Idowu’s body in a shallow grave behind his compound.
Adeleye contacted Idowu’s mother, demanding ransom, and extorted N360,000. He said, “The first thing I said to her was, ‘Hello, madam. We have your daughter.'”
Adeleye’s arrest was facilitated by tracing his SportyBet account, where he uploaded his National Identification Number. Expressing remorse, Adeleye stated, “I regret that I killed her… I don’t deserve any mercy for what I have done. At the same time, I ask God to forgive me.”
