A gruesome incident has shaken the Apete community in Ibadan, Oyo State, after a middle-aged man, identified as Alfa Ahmed, allegedly slaughtered his grandfather and uncle for an alleged money ritual.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening at the back of the popular Apete market, in the Ido Local Government Area of the state.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect took advantage of his grandfather’s visual impairment and his uncle’s poor health to carry out the heinous act. “The suspect, popularly called Alfa Ahmed in the area, took advantage of his grandfather’s condition because the man was visually impaired, while his uncle too was not feeling fine when the incident occurred,” an eyewitness revealed.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the suspect’s mission was to use parts of their bodies for a money ritual. The victims, who resided in the same place as the suspect, were found dead around 6:30 pm on Sunday, prompting a tense atmosphere in the area. The police were alerted, and an investigation has commenced into the incident.
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident, stating that an update would be provided as the investigation unfolds. “An investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates will be provided accordingly, please,” he said.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents expressing outrage and disgust at the suspect’s alleged actions. The police have assured that they will leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the incident and bringing the perpetrator to justice.
