The Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed a cyber security incident, prompting an investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
Although TfL has not disclosed details of the incident, it has assured customers that there is currently no evidence of compromised data. The organization has introduced measures to address the incident and is working closely with the NCA and NCSC to assess the situation.
According to Shashi Verma, TfL’s chief technology officer, “The security of our systems and customer data is very important to us… At present, there is currently no evidence that any customer data has been compromised. There is currently no impact on TfL services.”
The NCA and NCSC have confirmed their involvement in the investigation, with the NCA stating, “We are unable to comment further” due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
This incident follows a major cyber attack on the NHS in June, which resulted in over 10,000 cancelled appointments. Synnovis, a pathology services provider, was also targeted by a Russian cyber criminal group, leading to the cancellation of testing for 20,000 blood samples.
